Nori Panko Breaded Banana Blossom 

Ingredients (serves 4)


  1. Drain and carefully wash the pieces of banana blossom. Pat dry using some kitchen paper

  2. Crumble the nori seeds into small pieces. 

  3. Arrange 3 bowls to coat the banana blossom. 1 bowl of breadcrumbs, salt and nori, 1 bowl of 1.5 cups plain flour and 1 bowl with 1.5 cups plain flour, turmeric and 1.5 cups water - mixed well. 

  4. Dip the banana blossom into the bowls in the following order (see below). 

  5. Shallow fry the banana blossom in hot vegetable ​oil in a large pan; a couple pieces at a time until crispy on both sides.

  6. Immediately after frying top with lemon juice, salt and malt vinegar! Enjoy! 

  • 2 tins of banana blossom (510g each)

  • 1.5 cups panko breadcrumbs

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 3 cups plain flour

  • 3 large full sheets of sushi nori 

  • 1 tsp ground turmeric 

  • Vegetable oil (for frying)


  • Lemon juice 

  • Malt vinegar 

  • Salt 

  • Plain flour 

  • Flour + water 

  • Panko breadcrumbs
